Let’s Grow Week 🌱
If you’re new here, my kids are obsessed with all things farm-related, and with it being fall here in Ohio, we have farms aplenty! So naturally, we’re leaning into their interests for another week of learning.
This week, we’re focusing on the growing aspect of our farm theme. We’ll learn about the life cycle of chickens, explore the anatomy of an egg, and talk about growing and planting farm vegetables. And what better way to bring it all to life than with a trip to the farm to pick pumpkins? I love adding little outings like this as enrichment because it gives the kids a chance to experience what we’re learning about outside of our school room.
I’ve also started keeping a mental note of the cadence we’re naturally settling into throughout our school days. It’s been helpful to get a better idea of what I can realistically expect from myself and the kids, and I think we’re finally starting to find our rhythm!
We’re slowly working toward a more condensed school schedule so we can make plenty of room for all the holiday fun that’s coming. Right now, we’re finding that about 1–1.5 hours of focused school time is plenty for this age and season. The rest of our learning happens through play, books, outings, conversations, and simply following their interests.
I’m really enjoying this stage of homeschooling where we’re learning what works for us instead of trying to fit ourselves into a perfect schedule.
Here’s to another great week! 🌱🎃
