Pre-K Week 6

This week’s theme is all about fall! 🍂

Since we’re at the start of a new season, we’re taking the opportunity to let the season itself inspire our homeschool week.

A Little Curriculum Update

We’ve officially made some changes to our curriculum!

I would say that, so far, most of my homeschool finds have really paid off. But one of the most difficult parts of homeschooling is that you don’t always know if something is going to work until you actually have the opportunity to use it with your child. And honestly, I think that’s also one of the biggest benefits of homeschooling: if something isn’t working, you can change it.

Now, I’m not one to change things on a whim, and I definitely wouldn’t recommend constantly jumping from one curriculum to another. But you also have to learn to trust yourself. If something isn’t working for you or your child, it’s okay to pivot and find something that fits better.

The good thing about homeschooling is that nothing has to be permanent. I can always come back to a curriculum later, or save it for one of my younger kids.

That said, we have officially moved away from the Learning with Kelsey box that I was once so passionate about—but only for this year!

I purchased a 9-month subscription months before some changes were made to the box as a whole. And while I don’t think the changes are bad—in fact, I think they make the box better in many ways—some of the changes have made following it a little more difficult for us this year.

So, I plan to reintroduce most of the material next year!

We’re also working a little ahead in some areas, which has made finding a curriculum that is a perfect fit a little difficult. Instead, we’ve been able to pull bits and pieces from a variety of resources and create something that is more customized to where we are skill-wise right now.

And honestly, that flexibility is one of my favorite parts of homeschooling.

Back to Fall! 🍎🍂

Now, back to this week’s theme!

This week is mostly about enjoying the season and incorporating lots of fun, hands-on fall activities into our homeschool. We’re planning a trip to the farm stand, baking an apple crumble, making a leaf handprint garland, and plenty more seasonal fun.

It’s a simple week, but I love giving our homeschool a little seasonal magic whenever I can.

Here’s to another week! 🤎

As always, here is our lesson plan for the week. And if you’re looking for links to any of the resources we’re using, check out my Amazon Storefront!
