This Week: In the Dirt! 🪱🌱
This week’s theme is In the Dirt! And after last week, one thing I’ve really learned is that getting out of the traditional sit-down learning setup and creating a more hands-on environment is KEY!
I’ve also lowered my expectations around enrichment reading this year. This is really a year of exploration for us — figuring out different learning styles, what my oldest is interested in, and what actually keeps him engaged.
So, what I like to do is overplan our enrichment activities. Then, when the day comes, I’ll present a book, activity, or idea and see if he’s into it. If he’s not, we move on pretty quickly!
I think this has worked really well because it keeps the focus on what he’s interested in rather than checking boxes just for the sake of checking them.
Overall, we actually did less last week, and I think we got a much bigger outcome from it! So, this week’s plans are reflecting that less-is-more attitude.
My motto right now is: present a wide variety and go deep wherever the interest is!
Here’s to another great week! Thanks for being here. 🤍
