I think a part of me has always wanted to homeschool, but I’ve been too worried about what other people would think of me.
Growing up, homeschoolers were the odd ones out. They didn’t fit in, and they weren’t socialized enough. At least, that’s what I thought homeschooling looked like.
Now that I’m a mom, though, I think not fitting in might actually be one of the biggest strengths I could offer my kids.
So, I’m using this year to test the waters and see what homeschooling looks like for our family.
This is going to be a very relaxed forum. I want this to feel conversational—not like the articles you find when you’re Googling a simple recipe, iykyk.
Traditional journalism might laugh at how unpolished this is going to be, and I’m okay with that. I don’t want this to feel overly curated or like I have everything figured out, because I definitely don’t.
As I plan each week, I want to share our lesson plans, what we’re learning, what works, what doesn’t, and all the little things I’m figuring out along the way.
I think the more we share, the better we can make this community as a whole. There’s so much pressure around homeschooling to have the perfect curriculum, the perfect routine, and the perfect answer to every question. I’d rather just share what we’re actually doing and learn from each other along the way.
So, welcome to my little corner of the internet. We’re figuring this out as we go.
XX,
Jen
